With an account you’ll find your puzzles on every device, you can have 3 active at once and you can choose a profile photo — both once you confirm your email address. Without an account (and until you’ve confirmed) that’s 1 puzzle and no photo yet.
Your email address hasn’t been confirmed yet. You can puzzle as usual, but until then your account works as if you had none. Confirm it and you get: 3 active puzzles instead of 1, and a profile photo that other players see by your name. Only then can we send you a new password, too. Click the link in your inbox.

How does sudoku together work?
Pick a level. From very easy to expert. You start right away, on your own: no room, no name. Rather have a fresh sudoku the site makes for you on the spot? That choice is there too.
Press Share when you want to play together. A room opens with your sudoku, your digits come along, and you send on the short code or the link. Whoever has it joins in — no account needed.
Fill it in together. Everyone sees each other’s digits appear right away, each in their own color. With notes you put candidates in a square, and Hint tells you which step follows logically.
A sudoku is a grid of 9×9 squares, divided into nine boxes of 3×3. You fill in the digits 1 through 9, and every digit appears exactly once in each row, each column and each box. Some of the digits are already there: those are the givens, and you can’t change those squares.
Can you solve a sudoku together?
Yes, that’s what Puzzle Samen is for. You start on your own and press Share as soon as you want someone to join: a room opens with the same sudoku, your digits come along, and you send on the code or the link. From then on you fill in the same grid, each on your own phone, tablet or computer, and every digit appears for the others right away in that player’s color.
What does online sudoku cost here?
Nothing. All sudokus are free and you simply play them in your browser. There is nothing to install and no trial period that runs out.
Do I need an account for a sudoku?
No. You enter a name and you can start. An account comes in handy if you want more: your puzzles are then saved on every device, and you can join the chat, add friends and collect medals.
Which difficulty levels are there?
Five: very easy, easy, medium, hard and expert. Every sudoku has exactly one solution and can be solved without guessing — there is always a logical next step.
How do I put candidates in a square?
With the Notes button. It turns on the pencil: tap a digit and it appears small in the square, and tapping the same digit again erases it. Notes are shared, so your fellow players see them too. Whoever made the room can turn them off, have them cleaned up automatically or have them filled in all at once.
What if we get stuck?
Press Hint. It doesn’t give away the digit — a sudoku hands out no digits — but explains in three small steps which move can logically be made now: first where to look, then which technique is at play and what it means, and then what follows from it right here. The squares involved light up; you place the digit yourself.
Is there a new sudoku every day?
Yes. The daily sudoku is the same for everyone and climbs with the week: Monday is the easiest, Friday the hardest, and over the weekend it eases off a little. You’ll find it on the daily puzzle tile on this page.
Does sudoku work on a phone and tablet?
Yes. A 9×9 grid always fits on your screen, so there’s no need to zoom. Below the board is a number pad; if you’d rather pick a digit first and then tap squares, or want the number pad to float next to the chosen square, turn that on in the settings.

Profile photo
Other players see your photo by your name above the puzzle and with your chat messages. The photo is scaled down on this device to a 256×256 square.
You can choose a profile photo once your email address is confirmed. Confirming also gets you 3 active puzzles instead of 1. Click the link in your inbox.
Name
This is how other players see you in the game and in the chat.
Email address
You log in with this. A new address has to be confirmed again through the link we send; until then your account counts as one without confirmation.
Preferred color
Your letters in the grid get this color if it’s still free in the room. If it’s taken, you get the next free color; in a room where you played before you keep the color you already had there. You can always change your color in the game.
Findable for friends
Friends find each other by full name or by email address. Switch this off and nobody can find you by your name any more; someone who already knows your email address can still invite you. Your friends never get to see your email address.
When someone mentions you or it’s your turn
In a room’s chat someone can mention your name with an @ in front. You always see that in the chat itself; switch this on and you also get a notification on your device when you’re not in the room at that moment. You get the same notification when it becomes your turn in a turn-based game while you’re not in the room. You can switch the notification off per room with the bell above the chat.

My rooms and puzzles
What’s here?
The puzzles you had made or uploaded. They stay yours, even without a room. Open "Rooms" to see where they’re being played now, or open a new room with one at the press of a button.
What’s here?
Rooms of yours that play a puzzle from the library or from someone else. Your own puzzles are above, with their rooms underneath.
Rooms tidy themselves up. If there’s no letter in it yet, or the puzzle is completely finished, the room disappears a quarter of an hour after the last player leaves. If you’re halfway, it stays for two weeks. With an account your rooms are kept until you throw them away yourself — a room that’s completely solved disappears a week later, because it’s done. Each room has a badge showing what applies to it.
What’s here?

Someone else’s rooms where you play along. These don’t count towards your limit, and only the owner can delete them.

Still no connection
You’ve been offline for half a minute already. What you fill in is kept and goes to the room automatically as soon as you’re connected again.
Carrying on alone works right away: typing, erasing and the pencil keep working.
Then puzzling together stops: nothing more reaches the room.
Carry on alone
Carry on with this puzzle alone?
You’ll leave the room and carry on with this puzzle on this device. That means:
You no longer need internet. Typing, erasing, the pencil, zooming and the magnifier keep working as usual.
The others no longer see anything of you, and you no longer see them. What you fill in from now on won’t reach the room.
Checking and hints still work. The solution to this puzzle comes along to this device, so you can check your answers without internet too.
The room stays. With the room code you can join again later, but what you filled in alone stays with you.
Heads up
This puzzle will disappear soon
Until then nothing changes. You can simply keep playing together, and what’s there stays there.
Want to keep the puzzle? With "Export" below the puzzle you can save it as a file or PDF on your own device.

Generate a Swedish puzzle
The server builds a puzzle nobody has seen yet, with the clues in the squares and arrows to the words. Set the options the way you like. Generating again gives yet another puzzle.
Import a puzzle
Choose a puzzle file (.ipuz or .puz) from your device, or paste a link to a puzzle on another site. The server fetches it, checks it and puts it in your library. Up to 40×40, and the Dutch IJ may sit in one square.
or paste a link
Make an iPuz file yourself
An iPuz file is just a text file (JSON) that you can edit with any text editor. Start with the example and adapt it:
dimensions — the width and height, from 3×3 to 40×40.
puzzle — the grid: "#" is a block, 0 an empty letter square, and a number the number of a word that starts there.
solution — the same rows, but with the letters. Every letter square needs a letter; the Dutch IJ in one square is written as "IJ".
clues — the clues for those numbers, under Across and Down.
Every row in puzzle and solution must have exactly as many squares as the width — that’s where handmade files most often go wrong. If something doesn’t fit, the message above says exactly what.
This is what a complete file looks like, the smallest possible (3×3, with KAT and SOK across and KAS and TAK down):
Number 1 belongs to two words at once here: KAT (across) and KAS (down) both start in that square.
Adding a solution word (optional)
Want a few squares together to form a hidden word — the strip below the puzzle? Then add one extra field: puzzelsamen:solutionWord. In it you list the squares that take part, in the order in which their letters form the word. You don’t write the word itself: it’s already in solution at those positions. There can be 3 to 14 of them, each as { "row": row, "col": column }, counted from 0. In the 3×3 example above, the top row (K, A, T) together forms KAT:
Put this field next to clues in the same file. Those three squares then get a small number (1, 2, 3) and their letters appear in the strip below the grid. In the example file (7×7) this same field gives the word BRAIN.

Export
Download this puzzle to print or to use elsewhere. iPuz is an open format that may be used freely (also commercially) and can be imported here again.
The PDF is for printing and never contains the solution. The iPuz file does contain the solution, because otherwise the file would be no use later.
Owner
These settings apply to the whole room and only you, as the owner, can see them.
Works together with "only change your own letters": if someone is out of the game this long, everyone may change their letters again. With "never" their letters stay theirs (as the owner you can still always change them).
If you’re out of the game this long, the player who has been there longest and is online automatically becomes the owner. That way the room stays manageable if you drop out.
You can remove players from the list of names above the puzzle.
Personal settings only apply to you and are saved on this device.
