The button above turns on simple mode and opens today’s daily puzzle. The letters in the grid and the clues get a good deal bigger, the buttons get more room to tap and the contrast goes up. On a tablet in your lap or outside in the light, everything stays easy to read.

The screen gets calmer too: buttons you rarely need disappear. Your choice is kept on this device, so next time everything is big again right away. You turn it off with the same switch in the menu at the top right.
