Multiplayer crossword: fill it in together, live

One puzzle, several players. You see the others’ letters appear as they type them. Free crosswords with friends in your browser, even when you are not sitting side by side.

Puzzle with anyone, wherever you are

You make a room, send the code or the link by text message, and whoever has it joins in. Nothing to install and no account. It works with your partner on the couch just as well as with your mom two hundred miles away. Everyone gets their own color, so you see who filled in which letter.

It is a multiplayer crossword, but not a race: no clock, no points. Whoever sees a word types it. A thin border in someone’s color shows where they are working, so you are not both mulling over the same word.

How to play together

  1. Pick a puzzle. A crossword or Swedish puzzle from the library, a puzzle you have made for you, or your own iPuz or Across Lite file.
  2. Send the room code. The other person needs nothing more; entering a name is enough to join.
  3. Fill it in together. You are in the same grid at the same time and see each other’s letters right away, each in your own color.

There is also the chat, you can ask for a hint when you are stuck, and the owner can check what is there: wrong letters then turn red for everyone. Once you crack it, the confetti goes off for everyone at once.

How many people can join?

We set no limit. Two is the most common, but a whole family or a class can share the same room just as well. Want to keep it smaller? As the owner you set a maximum, lock the room, or show the puzzle only to your friends.

By default everyone may fill in everything, and that usually works fine. If it gets messy, turn on letter protection: then nobody can touch someone else’s letters.

Puzzling with family far away

Call each other or start a video call, open the same room, and it feels like sitting at one table. For someone who is not much of a computer person, it stays one link and one name.

Rather puzzle along with strangers? The public rooms have puzzles anyone can join.
